She graduated college in 2020 and continued to help her mother. Maya moved to London following after highschool in Yukon and started her four-year bachelor’s degree program at the University of Western Ontario, where she studied criminal justice. She retired from hockey after the 2015-16 season and has not played any professional or amateur games since then. She played for the Notre Dame Hounds in the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League (SFMAAAHL) and the Saskatchewan Senior Female Hockey League (SSFHL) in the 2015-16 season. She was the youngest participant in the Women’s Hockey tournament at the 2011 Canada Games, where she played the final three minutes of a game against New Brunswick. She joined the Whitehorse Mustangs, a local hockey club, and played in various tournaments and leagues. Maya started playing ice hockey when she was just a child. She was a member of the school’s hockey team and played as a goalie. While Maya enjoyed being on the TV show and working with animals, she also had other interests and goals in life.
